How an hour changed my life

A personal reflection on the single conversation that redirected everything — My father has truly helped me become the woman I am today. In a world of not-so-good, he is truly a great man. When I was younger, I felt no one was there for me. I was in and out of foster care and group homes, and it was a stress I constantly dealt with. He would visit with me wherever I was, listen to me, and share words of encouragement. When he adopted me, it made me believe in good again, and that people actually do care and love me. He has helped me when no one else would. He has dropped everything to come to my rescue when I needed it most, and I am grateful for the insightful conversations we have had. My dad has helped me see that forgiveness is always the best course of action, even if I choose not to forgive. He has brought God into my life and shown me that God has always been there, even if I feel he isn't, and that everything truly is in God's hands. My father has made me believe in God again. I will forever be thankful for that first hour he spent with me!
